I am so excited to begin the 7 day sugar detox today. I have a special ceremony that I enjoy before I begin any sugar detox. I do some detoxifying yoga to get into the mood, have a pot of detoxifying pepermint tea and I have a serving of the food that I feel is my craving food at that time, and is a part of my inspiration for the detox.
Because there is nothing wrong with that food, this is not a goodbye, it is a Thank You. Thank You to (this time it is Ice Cream, Ben and Jerry's PB Cup) for being there for me when I was incredibly stressed and needed you. Thank you for showing me that it is time for me to let you return to indulgence and find a new path to cope. The rest of the container is in my freezer till the end of the detox. The last time I did the full 21 day sugar detox my thank you ceremony was delicious whole grain crusty bread, and now, though I enjoy it, I don't go over board. The time before it was whole wheat pizza. This ceremony is critical if you have history of dieting and restriction.
Dieting and Restriction are not long term solutions to weight managment or food pleasure. Instead the Holistic Philosophy guides us to Thank the food that got us through an emotional tranistion and choose to find another path. The important elements are a lack of judgement of your past and a optimism about the future. Perfect for the New Year right?
So I begin my first morning of the Sugar Detox with my favorite morning Yoga Routine.
I set my intention for the day. Today I chose, " I will feel afloat on a sea of peace and I will let nothing deeply upset me or cause deep frustration." (I have been feeling a little edgy since the summer, and this intention really helps me find inner balalnce)
