We can not talk about Self Love and Body love without talking about emotional eating. There seem to be two warring camps.
If you eat a pint of ice cream to handle your crappy day you are soothing ad that is an act of self love. If you eat a pint of ice cream to sooth yourself you are emotionally eating and that is horrible and will make YOU the F word and should never be done ever.
Well NEWS FLASH we all eat emotionally all the time. That birthday cake, celebration and joy are emotions, that snack while reading a great book, relaxation or boredom or loneliness only you can know. One of the gifts of a healthy mindset on food is you can shove the prescribed mumbo jumbo out the window with the lies and agendas they represent.
Eating pints of ice cream does none of us any good in our health, unless it is like Halo top, love those people. Anyway what if we just accept we have emotions and we have many tools to soothe or enjoy or express those emotions and food is just one of them. We can show love and receive love through food, but we can also do it through touch, quality time, gifts, words of love and kindness and actions of giving and thoughtfulness. What if the obsession with food is the real problem?
When I first studied psychology i was shocked how by just eating better people could improve their mental state and baseline level of anxiety, depression and illness. It sent me on a 6 year hobby and then 10 year study and coaching of people in holistic nutrition. When I wanted to move forward into weight loss while holding onto those principles I trained in the 2b mindset.
