Building Trust: How Bitachon, Your Nervous System, and Lasting Health Are All Connected

Embracing serenity and vitality through grounding at any stage of life.
Embracing serenity and vitality through grounding at any stage of life.

s week in our Bitachon class, we explored a radical truth that many of us missed growing up:

Skills like emotional regulation, resilience, and true trust in God are not inborn—they’re built, layer by layer, with practice, support, and permission to grow slowly.

When we live in a body that holds tension, dysregulation, or inherited fear, it can feel like we’re failing. Especially when we "know better." But Bitachon, like healing, doesn’t come from knowing—it comes from being in trust.

And that’s where the nervous system comes in.

So many women I work with tell me:

➡️ “I know what to do, but I can’t seem to follow through.”

➡️ “I feel stuck in the same patterns with food, energy, or people-pleasing.”

➡️ “I want to trust Hashem, but my anxiety gets louder.”

This week’s class reminded us that trust in God is not a mindset—it’s a relationship that calms the nervous system over time. It helps you feel safe enough to eat differently, move differently, think differently. Not because you're finally disciplined—but because you're finally grounded.

In our class, we talked about:

✅ Letting go of shame for what we didn’t learn as children

✅ Seeing nervous system dysregulation as a symptom, not a flaw

✅ Building trust—spiritually, emotionally, and physically—by creating tiny, safe habits daily

✅ How Bitachon is not passive—it’s an active skill that rewires our stress response

Just like we train our bodies to walk, or our hands to write, we can train our nervous system to trust. And through that, we begin to feel peace in our food choices, patience with our growth, and presence with our loved ones.

💡 If you're ready to experience this shift, you’re not meant to do it alone.

We just started The Happiness Trap in Thrive 2025—our private coaching group that helps Jewish women build resilience, nourish their bodies with joy, and finally stop spiraling. You’ll learn step-by-step tools to build emotional strength, clarity in your choices, and yes, trust in your journey.

🌿 Sensory Grounding Exercise: 5-4-3-2-1 Technique

When emotions run high or the mind is overwhelmed, this powerful tool helps reconnect your body and brain to the present moment. It supports emotional regulation, builds nervous system resilience, and fosters inner calm — a key part of developing Bitachon and self-trust.

🖐 Here’s how to do it:

  1. 5 Things You See:Look around and name five things you can see right now — big or small.Example: “I see my coffee mug, the sunlight on the floor, my notebook, a blue pen, and my slippers.”

  2. 4 Things You Can Touch:Tune into four things you can physically feel.Example: “My sweater against my skin, the chair under me, the coolness of my glass, my feet on the floor.”

  3. 3 Things You Can Hear:Listen carefully and note three distinct sounds.Example: “The hum of the fridge, a bird outside, my breath.”

  4. 2 Things You Can Smell:Identify two scents, or take in a deep breath and notice what you can.Example: “Coffee aroma, fresh air.”

  5. 1 Thing You Can Taste:Focus on one thing you can taste now or recall a recent flavor.Example: “Mint from my tea” or “leftover taste from lunch.”

This exercise is most effective when practiced regularly, especially before meals, transitions, or stressful moments. It’s a way to “return to self,” building the capacity to respond instead of react — aligning beautifully with both emotional wellness and spiritual practice
