The Oatmeal Was in the Microwave… Again

“The Oatmeal Was in the Microwave… Again”

Naomi is an artist. A creative director. A mother. A woman who loves to sing — except her voice has been nearly gone for weeks.

She came to our session holding more than just her salad. She was carrying the weight of everything undone.

“I promised myself today would be different. I’d be prepared. And again… I’m behind.”

There were too many moving pieces:

  • Work logistics she hadn’t had time to prep

  • A workshop she needed to teach (in 3 hours)

  • A daughter’s concert that evening

  • No voice. No sleep. No peace.

  • And the morning oatmeal — forgotten again in the microwave

🎭 Stress as a Performance Drug

When we’re running on empty, we start to believe that stress is the only way to get things done.

Naomi shared something powerful:

“It’s like a power trip. I get it all done. I survive. But then I crash.”

The problem is, our brains get addicted to that adrenaline — the constant cortisol hits, the chaos. We learn to only feel successful when it’s barely pulled off.

But weight loss, health, and healing don’t work like that.

They’re not dramatic. They’re not urgent. They’re subtle, quiet, and repeated. And for many women — especially during chaotic seasons — they get drowned out.

🎨 The Visualization Shift That Changed Everything

Instead of solving all the problems, we practiced something else:changing how she experienced the problems.

I guided her through a visualization exercise:

  • Taking the “movie” of her stress and turning it black and white

  • Shrinking the screen

  • Turning down the sound

  • Watching the moment, instead of being the moment

It wasn’t easy. But it helped her find one second of breathing space.

And that space is where real change starts.

🍪 Tiny Tools That Feed the Nervous System (Not Just the Body)

“Can I make one protein cookie in the morning — so I stop skipping breakfast and spiraling by 3pm?”

That cookie wasn’t just food. It was an act of rebellion against the chaos . It was proof that she mattered.

💛 This Is the Work of Thrive well 1-1 Coaching

Women don’t need more pressure to be perfect. They need tools that feel human — and habits that honor the season they’re in.

That’s what I offer in Thrive:

  • Real emotional coaching (not just food rules)

  • Simple tools like the Harmony Plate

  • Support for Shabbat, holiday chaos, and daily overwhelm

  • Nervous system practices that make healthy eating possible

✨ You Don’t Need to Be Fixed — You Need to Be Fed

If you’re constantly stuck in the “movie” of your stress…

If you keep forgetting your oatmeal in the microwave…

If you love your people but can’t feel your own voice anymore…

You’re not failing.

You’re overdue for support that meets you where you are.
